Calculator methodology
Every Finance Tools calculator documents its formula, shows optional step-by-step breakdowns, and links to at least three independent references whenever possible.
How formulas are verified
We compare each implementation against widely cited finance references such as Investopedia, government publications, and textbook definitions. When jurisdictions differ, the article explains which assumptions the calculator uses.
Client-side execution
Calculations run in JavaScript inside your browser. That keeps inputs private and makes it easy to inspect the code path through the step-by-step panels and articles on each tool page.
Reporting issues
Each calculator includes a report button so you can flag incorrect results, broken inputs, or unclear copy. We review reports and update formulas when a reference-backed correction is needed.
