How to calculate weekly time sheet pay

A time sheet tracks hours worked across the week, splits regular and overtime hours, and applies your hourly rates. Under common U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act rules, non-exempt employees earn overtime at 1.5× the regular rate after 40 hours in a workweek.

For overtime-only scenarios, try the overtime pay calculator. To estimate take-home pay after taxes, pair this with paycheck calculators on the site.

Pay calculation formulas

Regular Pay=min(Total Hours,40)×Hourly Rate\text{Regular Pay} = \min(\text{Total Hours}, 40) \times \text{Hourly Rate}
Overtime Pay=max(Total Hours40,0)×Hourly Rate×1.5\text{Overtime Pay} = \max(\text{Total Hours} - 40, 0) \times \text{Hourly Rate} \times 1.5

Worked example

Five weekdays at 9 hours each equals 45 total hours. Regular pay covers 40 hours at $15.00 per hour ($600.00). Overtime covers 5 hours at $22.50 per hour ($112.50). Total weekly pay equals $712.50.

Frequently asked questions

What is the default overtime rule?
The calculator uses 40 regular hours per week and 1.5× overtime pay after that threshold, matching common FLSA weekly overtime treatment.
Can I change the overtime multiplier?
Yes. Set a custom multiplier for double-time or union contract rates.
Does this include breaks?
Enter net hours worked after unpaid breaks in daily hours mode, or reflect breaks by adjusting start and end times.
Are salaried employees covered?
This tool models hourly workers. Exempt salaried employees are generally not paid hourly overtime under federal rules.
Are results stored on your servers?
No. All math runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to the server.
